Pulling the plug on Star Wars

With the release of numerous Star Wars films, TV series, and other media in a relatively short span, there’s a concern that the franchise might be suffering from “franchise fatigue.”

Love it or hate it, it seems widely accepted among fans and critics alike that the Starwars franchise has been steadily going downhill within the last decade, with some notable exceptions in the form of Disney original series, The filmography has come off as lack-luster, pandering, or even forced at times. No pun Intended.

Some fans argue that the newer films, especially those in the sequel trilogy (Episodes VII-IX), deviate from the original vision set by George Lucas in the original trilogy. Changes in tone, storytelling choices, and character arcs have sparked debates among fans about the direction of the series. The original Star Wars trilogy created by George Lucas holds a special place in cinematic history, and the continued expansion of the franchise may dilute its legacy. They fear that new movies might not live up to the iconic status of the originals. With the release of numerous Star Wars films, TV series, and other media in a relatively short span, there’s a concern that the franchise might be suffering from “franchise fatigue.” This refers to a saturation of content that can dilute the impact of each installment. This could potentially lead to a decrease in the overall quality of content and could exhaust the interest of fans. he expanded Star Wars universe, consisting of movies, TV series, books, and comics, has established a complex canon. Opinions on the quality of individual films within the franchise vary. While some fans appreciate the newer additions, others feel that the quality has been inconsistent, leading to a perception of decline. Some argue that the introduction of new films can create challenges in maintaining consistency and coherence within the established canon. The way legacy characters, such as Luke Skywalker, Han Solo, and Princess Leia, were portrayed in the sequel trilogy has been a point of contention. Some fans were dissatisfied with the character arcs and felt that these beloved figures were not given the treatment they deserved. Star Wars has an immense and passionate fanbase, and expectations for new content are often very high. Meeting these expectations can be challenging, and any deviation from what fans envision for the series can lead to disappointment. The sequel trilogy, in particular, has received mixed reviews from fans and critics. Detractors argue that the negative reception is an indication that the franchise might be better off without further cinematic additions. Some believe that Disney should shift its focus from movies to other mediums, such as animated series, novels, and comics. This could allow for more exploration of the Star Wars universe without the pressure of living up to the expectations associated with big-budget films.

t’s important to note that these arguments do not represent the views of all Star Wars fans, and many appreciate the new content that Disney has introduced to the franchise. Disney has taken steps to diversify the types of Star Wars content produced, including TV series like “The Mandalorian,” which has been well-received.

Ultimately, the decision to continue or halt new Star Wars movies is up to Disney and the creators involved, taking into account the preferences and expectations of the fanbase. The franchise’s future may involve finding a balance between expanding the universe and respecting the elements that have made Star Wars a cultural phenomenon.

It’s Always Sunny Season 15 Announced

Mac Drops a Bomb

It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia is an infamous, raunchy, topical comedy revolving around five scum of the earth characters who own and operate a bar. Since the shows launch in 2005 on FX, Sunny has amassed an enormous cult following for the edgy comedy the show features. Spanning over 14 seasons now and still airing on FX as well as Hulu, Speculation has been running wild over the past year as to when, if ever, the next season of the show will make its debut. While the pandemic seemingly set back the taping and airing of the series, producer and actor Rob McElhenney took to TikTok on August 19th 2021 dressed in full riot gear to showcase as short video of him holding a script that reads: “It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia; Season 15; Episode 1 “2020 a year in review”.

It seems as though we will not only be getting season 15 of Sunny relatively soon, we may also be getting some background as to what had been going on with the gang and paddy’s during the 2020 lockdown.

Never one to shy away from controversial topics or push the envelope, we look forward to the opportunities that may arise with the gang in regards to this crazy world we currently live in. As to why “Mac” appeared in this video in Riot gear is still largely unclear, could we perhaps be seeing a teaser to some drastic event that occurred during the 2020 year that will be recapped in episode one? Maybe the attire is just a cheeky nod to Rob’s character, mac’s famous “Riot” shit.

Further confirming the upcoming release of the new season, the official It’s Always Sunny Twitter page posted a picture of the script cover captioned “we’re back jabronies”

Everything You Need To Know About The WWE Network on Peacock

What you need to be aware of before switching to Peacock for WWE

Just a week removed from the WWE’s departure to the Peacock streaming service began and we’ve already seen some shocking and frightening things. Before you go and activate your Peacock service, make sure you know exactly what you’re getting yourself into.

WWE Network is Still Operational

For the time being, the WWE Network is still fully functional for subscribers. While the transition to Peacock has begun, The Network won’t officially be offline until after Summer Slam. While it is still unknown if the “biggest event of the summer” will be streaming in bother services, more likely than not Summer Slam will be the first Peacock exclusive PPV. However, The Network technically isn’t “shutting down” at all! Subscribers outside the US will continue to get the WWE Network as the Peacock agreement is only for The State, meaning while it’s not ideal, with use of a VPN you could still enjoy your regularly scheduled programming!

User Limitations

WSRR

Like we previously addressed, WWE’s full library isn’t set to be added to Peacock until after this year’s Summer Slam, however fans are skeptical whether or not the “Full” library will ever be readily available. Peacock’s social media team had been very unhelpful regarding these concerns addressing the Summer Slam plans but nothing further, not providing any detail on specific shows, or time frames. As it sits now, Peacock only has a limited amount of Wrestling for all the hype surrounding it. While Raw, Smackdown, and NXT can all be found, they are accompanied by a handful of seemingly randomly selected WWE PPVs and D-List originals. Above all else Peacock also lacks a user friendly interface. Providing no “Start over” option or even an option to pause shows, Peacock has come under fire from the public for their inability to fully enjoy events on their own schedule.

Censorship

The most recent news regarding the streaming service and seemingly the most upsetting is Peacock’s mission to censor all WWE content, past or present! Initially removing the infamous Roddy Piper v. Bad News Brown Wrestlemania VI for Pipers use of “half blackface” , the next victim would be Owner and real life chairman of the company Vince McMahon’s controversial use of a certain satirical racial slur from Survivor Series ‘05. While we’re not condoning either instance, the blatant removal of this content seems rather uncalled for. With many fans believing Peacock should’ve opted for the “Muppets approach” including an advisory label in the description rather than cutting the footage. According to new reports, Peacock will be sorting through ALL of the Network footage to censor content that could be deemed “offensive”, leaving many long time fans weary of how the beloved “Attitude Era” will be represented on this new platform. While we may not agree with the actions of the past, we more so do not condone the attempt to erase or cover up history.

With seemingly more backlash than excitement, the overall consensus from wrestling fans seems to be an overwhelming “no” when it comes to the Peacock switch. Will you be making the change? Let me know what you think of the new service below and don’t forget to check out more Wrestling articles right here!
